Space and Missiles. Yes, I actually wanted it. I'm weird. I know.

Friend of mine got Logistic Readiness Officer. Odd in that it said he was not qualified for it and it was one of his later choices.

that is hilarious because that is the same story for me. On the little final thingy for the dream sheet (I know that makes no sense) it said I was not qualified for it and it was like my third or fourth choice, where Intel was my first choice and I am a Political Science major and I got a high score on the DLAB.

Interesting. Friends top choice was also Intel, 3rd choice was LRO.

Its just really weird that the one person in my detachment who got intel is a criminology major where myself and this other guy are both political science majors and this other guy is finishing up his master degree in international studies all applied for intel and didn't get it. She didn't have better grades or a better ranking at FT then the other guys. Oh well doesn't matter I was bummed at first but now I am excited to be LRO, my COC is a LRO and I've been talking his ears off with questions about the career field.

As it turns out I am that friend...o'course mizukaze sent me this way. So you're excited about being an LRO? I was pretty much ticked off not to get Intel. Same here, high DLAB score, over 18 hours of Japanese credits and a decent GPA. Of course I'm a biology major, and the intel officers at FT told me that would hurt my chances. But yes, we should talk about this LRO thing, I know not much of it. We're two of only 79 selected you know.

Yea I don't know much about it. My COC is a LRO and he pretty much described it to me as the movement of people and things and like the person below said its one big puzzle. My friend Dmitry does transportation for Logistics Readiness and he said that it is a highly deployable job with the officers leading convoys in Iraq. He currently is in Iraq. I don't really care about the highly deployable part, sounds kinda exciting to me. I was pretty ticked off at first because I thought I was basically guaranteed intel but now I don't really care to much LRO seems interesting. My COC says training is at Lackland AFB, so that should be fun. I don't know which bases to put down though. My COC said to put down Aerial Ports because LRO is more interesting on the Aerial side and not the Fuels or Transportation side. Apparently its broken down into those three categories and you have to become qualified in all three to earn the LRO afsc. He recommended Charleston and Travis, but said that all Aerial port bases are good. What bases are you going for?

Well Yokota and Misawa are at the top of my list. After that I'm not really sure. I'm really hoping for one of those two, seeing as a speak japanese. Somewhat. I may pu Ramstein on there as well. I'd rather have an overseas assignment.

I'm just not sure this is the life I want to be honest. I feel like it's just going to be some glorified supply officer position. Now combat deployment, bare base assignments, etc. , those sound interesting. Fuels and supply chains do not though. Ah well...what can you do? There is surprisingly little information to be found on the day-to-day activities of an LRO unfortunately. I'd like to have a better understanding of what exactly it is I'm getting into. (oh and it was my 4th choice by the way, heh)

Don't worry about it. I was pretty bummed out about it too, but there is more to it than it seems and it sounds really interesting plus you can get assigned to basically any base because they all have logistics. My colonel told me its not a desk job which is always a plus. I got the list of open bases to 21Rs and I am going for: Ramstein, Lakenheath, Charleston, Langley, Elmendorf, and Travis....but I am probably going to change it up because I have no idea still.

Intel. It was my first choice, and it was kind of funny, since I put Space and Missles second on my list. I'm pretty sure I got it because I can speak Armenian. I was so excited, even though I'm applying for the Biomedical Science Corps in September.

I got Intell, which was my first choice. I'm thinking for me, too, it was because of languages, DLAB score, and lots of PoliSci and IR experience/study. I just hope I have enough that I can do a good job.
